Twenty-three years ago, a group of community minded individuals gathered to make a difference in the fight against cancer. They decided to organize a dinner dance, invite all of their friends to attend, and donate the proceeds to the American Cancer Society. They raised twelve hundred dollars that first year and everyone had a wonderful time!
Before the second event was held, a very special volunteer, Craig Gnagey, Sr., passed away. Craig Gnagey’s family, in keeping with his tradition of philanthropic giving, makes up a large portion of the planning committee today.
The event is now dedicated in Craig’s memory. The funds raised will benefit pediatric cancer and bring hope and help to many cancer survivors and caregivers in our area through research, education, advocacy and patient services.
While traditionally the event has featured a ballroom dance competition, this year we are excited to offer a wine experience, bourbon tasting, various auction items, and a cocktail party. It is our goal to raise over $65,000 in 2019.
We hope to see you there!
For more than 100 years, The American Cancer Society has been leading the fight to end cancer. With your support, we have helped usher in an era where more people survive cancer than ever before. By translating our research findings into action, we've seen a 20% decline in US cancer death rates since the early 1990s. Join us to help finish the fight.
